A few years ago, in a large cooperative with which I was collaborating to start a fundraising activity, I met a large “spontaneous” donor: he had come years before to get to know the structure, well-known and important for the territory. He had been welcomed with kindness, the general manager of the cooperative had accompanied him to discover the structure, introducing him to the operators and volunteers, telling him about its history and budgets, presenting him with all the documents he requested. Since then, he has donated very large amounts every year and responded to the operators’ requests when necessary. Why am I telling this? Because they, without knowing it, have done exactly what major fundraising work is: teamwork, not a solitary activity.
